Run4Change

From: THE BRAINSPORT TIMES NEWSLETTER

Once in a while we have events that we want to highlight on their own in the TIMES.  This coming Wednesday, June 6 there will be one of those events that BRAINSPORT is really happy to be involved with.  To help make this happen we sought out one of our very energetic friends to captain Run4Change.  Here is Tisha Wintringham’s message.

Hello all of you beautiful runners!!!  This special edition of the times is to let you know of a little fun run type thing that we will be holding at the store next Wednesday June 6th at 6pm.  BRAINSPORT put me in touch with an amazing national foundation called Start2Finish and we decided to bring this run to Saskatoon and help support the great programs that they provide.  Feel free to take a look at info@start2finishonline.org. Start2Finish is dedicated to breaking the cycle of child poverty by providing ongoing educational support to Canada's at risk children throughout their school years, nurturing mind, body, and social health so they are empowered to succeed and become role models for change themselves.

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN REAL LIFE ACTION RIGHT NOW?  WHAT GOOD WILL YOUR MONEY DO I SASKATOON??

Well, last year Shane Armstrong, Principal at Princess Alexandra School, handed out numerous backpacks full of school supplies that were needed for some of our kids to start school on the right foot and provide them with adequate tools to learn.  This group spends all money donated in Saskatoon in Saskatoon, as well, they have great programs to offer funded nationally.

Tisha is very passionate to work with Start2Finish and bring a running and reading mentorship program to Saskatoon's inner city schools next fall that is funded nationally. This program has all kinds of research that has proven the long term positive impact a regular running/snack/reading program can have to empower a child, especially those with limited financial resources and opportunities due to the nasty cycle of poverty.

We hope that you will come out and join us on Wednesday, June 6 at 6PM to support this valuable program.  Tisha will be making her famous banana chocolate chip muffins for after the run.

We will be accepting donations at the store for a full week afterwards.  Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $25 or more.  Please make any cheques payable to START2FINISH.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Tish at tishaw@sasktel.net

We’ll return to regular programming on Tuesday with some exciting announcements.
