Toronto (ONTARIO) October 15, 2007 - Today, ParticipACTION, the voice and champion of physical activity in Canada, along with its partners including the Government of Canada, celebrated its return with the launch of a public awareness campaign aimed at inspiring Canadians to move more. Originally established in 1971, ParticipACTION was reinvigorated to help deal with the inactivity and obesity crisis that is facing Canada. |

PRESS RELEASE RELEASED BY THE HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION ON JUNE 8, 2007: Dr. Karen Chad wins the 2006 Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada's Leadership Award in Heart Health Policy. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) presented Dr. Karen Chad of the University of Saskatchewan with the third annual HSFC Leadership Award in Heart Healthy Policy. Dr. Chad was recognized for her outstanding leadership and dedication in developing healthy public policies to increase physical activity. On Friday, November 23, 2007 in motion hosted an early years symposium on physical activity and nutrition. Over 60 senior decision-makers, front-line program coordinators and researchers working in early childhood development and care attended the symposium.

This year was another great year for Fall…in motion. Thousands of people were “in motion” for 30 minutes on October 1 for the kick off event in Griffiths Stadium at Potash Corp Park. Over a thousand people submitted their Fall…in motion Challenge Activity Log for their chance to win some great prizes.

There was an incredible response in participation with our Walking Workout Challenge this year. Congratulations to Joanne Cliff who consistently used in motion's online Your Walking Workout tool to track her daily walking during in motion’s Challenge which ran from April to June. She was the lucky winner of a Series 3 Bowflex treadmill which was generously donated by Flaman Fitness. |

Communities within the Saskatoon Health Region have a number of initiatives and special events going on over the next few months, as you participate in these events, think of ways you can incorporate physical activity. |
