Toronto (ONTARIO) October 15, 2007 - Today, ParticipACTION, the voice and champion of physical activity in Canada, along with its partners including the Government of Canada, celebrated its return with the launch of a public awareness campaign aimed at inspiring Canadians to move more. Originally established in 1971, ParticipACTION was reinvigorated to help deal with the inactivity and obesity crisis that is facing Canada.

Dr. Karen Chad wins the 2006 Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada's Leadership Award in Heart Health Policy.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) presented Dr. Karen Chad of the University of Saskatchewan with the third annual HSFC Leadership Award in Heart Healthy Policy. Dr. Chad was recognized for her outstanding leadership and dedication in developing healthy public policies to increase physical activity.  Dr. Karen Chad's visionary contributions to the in motion active-living program have resulted in more active, healthier communities.  Congratulations Karen!

The National Commuter Challenge is a friendly competition between Canadian communities to encourage the use of active transportation to and from work, school or the store.
