Physical Activity Guidelines
Adults (18-64 years)
Adults are encouraged to participate in a variety of physical activities each day. It’s easy when you make it part of your everyday life, whether through active transportation, recreation, sports, planned exercise sessions or maybe it’s just part of your job. While many of our daily activities necessitate physical activity, daily living activities such as dressing, grooming, homemaking, food preparation, etc, aren’t included toward the recommended daily amount of physical activity.
To achieve health benefits, adults aged 18-64 years should accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic physical activity per week, in sessions of 10 minutes or more.
Adults with Spinal Cord Injury
Living with a spinal cord injury can necessitate a different approach to physical activity. These guidelines are appropriate for all healthy adults with chronic spinal cord injury, traumatic or non-traumatic, including tetraplegia and paraplegia.
