Why be an in motion community?

Physical activity friendly community environments are key to improving health, reducing disparities, saving healthcare costs, stimulating the economy and addressing climate change (Solomon, Standish & Orleans, 2009).

The environments in which we live, work, learn and play, as well as the types of interaction we have there, have a strong influence on our physical activity and health. Becoming an in motion community is a fun and effective way to bring people and organizations together to build stronger, healthier communities. Promoting physical activity creates healthier, more vibrant communities by encouraging social interaction, engaging youth in positive activities and forging a powerful sense of community among individuals and organizations.
