Youth
Most teenagers are sedentary, or not in motion, for more than 9 hours a day! In fact, only 7% of Canadian children and youth get enough physical activity (Canadian Health Measures Survey 2007-2009).
Since our bodies need to move to stay healthy, this generation of youth may be the first in history to have shorter and less healthy lives than their parents. But it’s never to late to get in motion. Physical activity can help youth concentrate in school, feel better about themselves and their bodies, and decrease the chance of participating in risky behaviours.
There are many opportunities in our area to participate in physical activity. Get in motion. Contact us today, or check out our “Where to be in motion” section for more ideas.
